1. Introduction

These Commissions & Payments Terms explain how payments, driver commissions, provider payouts, refunds, cancellations, payment disputes and related payment matters are handled on RecoBuddy.

These terms apply to customers, users, drivers, recovery providers, transport providers, business users and any other person or business using RecoBuddy to post, quote for, accept, manage or complete recovery or vehicle transport jobs.

By using RecoBuddy, posting a job, submitting a quote, accepting a quote, completing a job or receiving payment through the platform, you agree to these Commissions & Payments Terms.

These terms should be read together with our Terms and Conditions, Driver Agreement, Privacy Policy, Cancellation Policy, Refund Policy and any other policies shown in the RecoBuddy app or website.

2. About RecoBuddy

RecoBuddy is a technology platform that connects customers, businesses and trade users with independent recovery and vehicle transport providers.

RecoBuddy does not usually carry out recovery or vehicle transport services directly.

Drivers and providers using RecoBuddy are independent service providers. They are responsible for the quotes they submit, the jobs they accept, the services they carry out, their insurance, their equipment, their legal obligations and their conduct.

RecoBuddy provides the platform, job posting tools, quote system, communication tools, payment processing support, booking management features and support functions.

3. No Customer Platform Fees

RecoBuddy does not charge customers or standard users a platform fee, booking fee, service fee or commission for using the platform.

Customers only pay the quote they choose to accept.

The price shown to the customer at the point of booking is the accepted driver or provider quote.

RecoBuddy does not add a customer-side commission or booking fee on top of the accepted quote.

4. Customer Payments

When a customer accepts a quote, the customer agrees to pay the accepted quote amount for the job.

The accepted quote is the price offered by the driver or provider for completing the recovery or transport job.

Before confirming a booking, the customer will be shown the amount payable.

Customers are not required to accept a quote they are not happy with.

Once a customer accepts a quote and confirms payment, the booking may become binding, subject to RecoBuddy’s terms, cancellation rules and any payment processing requirements.

5. Driver and Provider Quotes

Drivers and providers set their own prices when quoting for jobs on RecoBuddy.

When submitting a quote, drivers and providers should consider the full job details, including but not limited to:

  • Pickup location

  • Drop-off location

  • Vehicle type

  • Vehicle condition

  • Distance

  • Timing

  • Access requirements

  • Equipment required

  • Fuel and operating costs

  • Availability

  • Any special requirements

  • Any RecoBuddy commission that may be deducted from their payout

Drivers and providers should only quote for jobs they are properly insured, equipped, authorised and available to complete.

By submitting a quote, the driver or provider confirms that they have reviewed the job details and are willing to complete the job for the quoted amount, subject to any valid conditions included in the quote.

6. Quote Accuracy

Drivers and providers are responsible for ensuring their quotes are accurate before submitting them.

The quote submitted through RecoBuddy should be the total price the customer is expected to pay for the job, unless additional charges are later agreed due to inaccurate job details, waiting time, access issues or another valid reason.

Drivers and providers must not submit misleading prices, incomplete prices or artificially low quotes with the intention of increasing the price later.

Drivers and providers must not ask the customer to pay extra outside the platform to cover RecoBuddy commission.

If additional charges are required because the job is materially different from the information provided, the driver or provider must explain this clearly through RecoBuddy before the extra charge is applied.

7. RecoBuddy Driver Commission

RecoBuddy may charge drivers or providers a commission or platform fee for jobs completed through the RecoBuddy platform.

This commission is deducted from the driver or provider payout.

RecoBuddy does not charge customers a separate commission, platform fee or booking fee.

The driver or provider is responsible for taking any RecoBuddy commission into account when submitting their quote.

The applicable commission rate may vary depending on:

  • Driver agreement

  • Provider agreement

  • Account type

  • Promotional offer

  • Business arrangement

  • Written agreement with RecoBuddy

  • Job type

  • Any special terms agreed by RecoBuddy

The commission rate may be shown in the app, driver agreement, provider agreement, payout screen or any separate written agreement.

8. Commission Display and Confirmation

The applicable RecoBuddy commission may be shown to drivers or providers through the app, driver agreement, provider agreement, payout screen, account dashboard or any separate written agreement with RecoBuddy.

Drivers and providers are responsible for reviewing the applicable commission before submitting quotes, accepting jobs or using the platform to receive work.

RecoBuddy does not charge customers or standard users a platform fee, booking fee, service fee or commission. Any RecoBuddy commission is deducted from the driver or provider payout, unless a separate written agreement states otherwise.

9. Business Users

Business users, including dealerships, traders, garages, bodyshops, auction buyers, fleet operators and other commercial users, can use RecoBuddy to post recovery and vehicle transport jobs.

Unless a separate written business agreement states otherwise, business users only pay the quote they choose to accept.

RecoBuddy does not add a customer-side commission, service fee or booking fee to business user bookings.

Any RecoBuddy commission is deducted from the driver or provider side, unless a separate written commercial arrangement has been agreed.

Business users may be offered separate account terms, including invoice billing, monthly statements, custom commission arrangements or account-specific pricing. Any special arrangement must be agreed by RecoBuddy in writing.

10. Payment Processing

Payments made through RecoBuddy may be processed by third-party payment providers, including Stripe or any other provider used by RecoBuddy.

By making or receiving a payment through RecoBuddy, users agree to comply with the relevant payment provider’s terms, verification requirements and processing rules.

Payment processing may be subject to:

  • Identity checks

  • Business checks

  • Bank verification

  • Fraud screening

  • Payment provider review

  • Account restrictions

  • Payout delays

  • Chargeback procedures

  • Refund procedures

  • Compliance checks

RecoBuddy does not control all aspects of third-party payment processing, including bank processing times, card issuer decisions, payment provider checks or payment provider restrictions.

11. Driver Payment Accounts

Drivers and providers may be required to connect, create or verify a payment account before receiving payouts.

This may include using Stripe Connect or another payment provider.

Drivers and providers are responsible for providing accurate and up-to-date information, including:

  • Full name

  • Business name

  • Address

  • Date of birth, where required

  • Company details, where required

  • Bank account details

  • Identity information

  • Tax information, where required

  • Any other details requested by the payment provider

Payouts may be delayed, paused or restricted if payment account verification is incomplete or unsuccessful.

12. Driver Payouts

Drivers and providers are usually paid after a job has been completed and the customer payment has been successfully processed.

RecoBuddy may require the job to be marked as completed before payout is released.

Driver payouts may be subject to:

  • RecoBuddy commission

  • Payment processing checks

  • Account verification

  • Refund reviews

  • Chargeback reviews

  • Customer complaints

  • Job disputes

  • Cancellation reviews

  • Fraud prevention checks

  • Platform rule checks

  • Any other valid deduction or hold under these terms

RecoBuddy may delay or hold a payout where reasonably necessary to protect customers, drivers, providers, businesses or the platform.

13. Payout Timing

Driver payout timing may vary depending on:

  • Payment provider processing times

  • Bank processing times

  • Account verification status

  • Job completion status

  • Refund or dispute checks

  • Payment risk review

  • Payout method

  • Weekend or bank holiday delays

  • Payment provider restrictions

RecoBuddy does not guarantee that payouts will be received instantly unless this is specifically confirmed in the app or in writing.

Where instant payouts are available, they may be subject to payment provider eligibility, fees, account status and availability. The very first payout usually will take 7-14 days as per Stripes' policy, all payouts after this will be instant (where eligible).

14. Payout Deductions

RecoBuddy may deduct the following from a driver or provider payout where applicable:

  • RecoBuddy commission

  • Payment processing costs, where applicable

  • Refunds

  • Partial refunds

  • Chargebacks

  • Payment dispute amounts

  • Cancellation charges owed by the driver

  • Customer compensation approved by RecoBuddy

  • Amounts caused by driver breach of terms

  • Amounts owed by the driver to RecoBuddy

  • Any payment provider fees or adjustments

  • Any deduction required by law or payment provider rules

RecoBuddy will aim to show relevant payout information clearly through the driver account where available.

15. Payment Holds

RecoBuddy may place a temporary hold on funds where there is a legitimate reason to do so.

This may include:

  • Job dispute

  • Customer complaint

  • Driver complaint

  • Suspected fraud

  • Failed payment

  • Chargeback risk

  • Refund request

  • Driver cancellation

  • Customer cancellation

  • Off-platform arrangement attempt

  • Safety concern

  • Insurance or document issue

  • Payment provider requirement

  • Breach of RecoBuddy terms

Funds will be released, refunded, deducted or otherwise resolved once RecoBuddy has reviewed the relevant issue.

16. Failed Customer Payments

If a customer payment fails, the booking may not be confirmed.

RecoBuddy may ask the customer to retry payment or use another payment method.

Drivers and providers should not start a job unless the booking has been confirmed through RecoBuddy, unless RecoBuddy gives written approval.

RecoBuddy is not responsible for paying a driver or provider where the customer payment has failed and the driver proceeded without confirmed payment.

17. Refunds

Customers may be entitled to a full or partial refund depending on the circumstances.

Refunds may be considered where:

  • The job was not completed

  • The driver failed to attend

  • The driver cancelled

  • The customer was charged incorrectly

  • A duplicate payment was made

  • The job details materially changed before completion

  • A refund is required by law

  • RecoBuddy determines that a refund is fair and appropriate

Refunds may not be available where:

  • The job was completed as agreed

  • The customer cancelled late

  • The customer provided incorrect information

  • The customer, vehicle, keys or access were not available

  • Additional costs were caused by the customer

  • The customer arranged the job outside RecoBuddy

  • The refund request is unsupported or unreasonable

Refunds are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

18. Partial Refunds

RecoBuddy may issue a partial refund where only part of the service was affected.

A partial refund may be considered where:

  • The job was partly completed

  • The service was completed but there was a valid issue

  • The customer and driver agree to a reduced amount

  • An additional charge was applied incorrectly

  • A goodwill refund is approved

  • RecoBuddy decides a partial refund is fair

If the driver or provider is responsible for the issue, RecoBuddy may deduct the refunded amount from the driver payout.

19. Cancellations Before Quote Acceptance

If a customer cancels a job before accepting a quote, no driver payout will usually be due.

If no quote has been accepted, no confirmed booking has been formed between the customer and driver.

RecoBuddy may still collect feedback about why the job was cancelled to improve the platform.

20. Cancellations After Quote Acceptance

If a customer cancels after accepting a quote, a cancellation fee may apply depending on the circumstances.

Any cancellation fee should be fair, proportionate and based on the costs, time or loss reasonably incurred.

A cancellation fee may depend on:

  • How much notice was given

  • Whether the driver had already started travelling

  • Whether the driver had arrived

  • Whether the driver had incurred fuel or operating costs

  • Whether the customer, vehicle or keys were unavailable

  • Whether the job was urgent or time-sensitive

  • Whether the cancellation caused the driver to lose other work

  • Any cancellation terms shown before booking

RecoBuddy may deduct the cancellation fee from the customer payment and allocate part or all of it to the driver, depending on the circumstances.

21. Driver Cancellations

Drivers and providers should only accept jobs they are able and willing to complete.

If a driver cancels after a booking has been confirmed, RecoBuddy may take action, including:

  • Warning the driver

  • Reducing driver visibility

  • Removing the driver from the job

  • Refunding the customer

  • Reassigning the job where possible

  • Withholding payout

  • Suspending the driver account

  • Removing the driver from the platform

Repeated cancellations may result in account suspension or removal.

22. Customer No-Show or Vehicle Unavailable

If a driver attends the pickup location and the customer, vehicle, keys or required access are not available, the driver may be entitled to a cancellation fee, waiting time charge or partial payout.

The driver may be asked to provide evidence, including:

  • Arrival time

  • Location evidence

  • Photos

  • In-app messages

  • Waiting time details

  • Call logs, where appropriate

  • Any other relevant evidence

RecoBuddy will review the situation before deciding whether a cancellation fee, waiting time charge or payout is due.

23. Waiting Time

Drivers may charge reasonable waiting time if they are delayed due to circumstances outside their control.

This may include:

  • Customer not present

  • Keys not available

  • Vehicle blocked in

  • Incorrect address

  • Restricted access

  • Site delays

  • Auction or compound delays

  • Garage or business premises delays

  • Drop-off contact unavailable

Where possible, waiting time charges should be agreed through RecoBuddy before being applied.

Any waiting time charge must be reasonable and may need to be supported by evidence.

24. Additional Charges

Additional charges may apply where the job is materially different from the information provided by the customer.

Examples include:

  • Vehicle is a non-runner when listed as running

  • Vehicle has no keys

  • Vehicle is blocked in

  • Vehicle requires winching

  • Vehicle is heavier or larger than stated

  • Pickup or drop-off address is incorrect

  • Access is restricted

  • Customer causes waiting time

  • Extra mileage is required

  • Specialist equipment is required

Additional charges must be reasonable and clearly explained.

Where possible, additional charges should be agreed through RecoBuddy before extra work is carried out.

25. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes

If a customer raises a chargeback or payment dispute with their bank, card provider or payment provider, RecoBuddy may investigate the booking and provide evidence.

Evidence may include:

  • Job details

  • Quote details

  • Customer acceptance

  • Payment confirmation

  • In-app messages

  • Driver updates

  • Collection evidence

  • Delivery evidence

  • Photos

  • Tracking information

  • Completion records

  • Support messages

If a chargeback is successful, RecoBuddy may recover the disputed amount, fees or losses from the driver or provider where the driver or provider was responsible for the issue.

Drivers, providers and customers must cooperate with RecoBuddy during payment dispute investigations.

26. Off-Platform Payments

All bookings and payments for jobs arranged through RecoBuddy must remain on the RecoBuddy platform unless RecoBuddy gives written permission otherwise.

Drivers must not ask customers to cancel a job and pay privately.

Customers must not ask drivers to complete a RecoBuddy job privately outside the platform.

Because RecoBuddy does not charge customers a platform fee, booking fee or commission, customers should not be asked to pay outside the app to avoid fees.

Off-platform arrangements may result in:

  • Loss of platform support

  • Loss of payment protection

  • Account warnings

  • Account suspension

  • Withholding of driver payouts

  • Reduced driver visibility

  • Removal from RecoBuddy

  • Permanent account closure

RecoBuddy may monitor in-app messages for safety, support, fraud prevention, compliance and anti-circumvention purposes, in line with its Privacy Policy.

27. No Cash Payments for RecoBuddy Jobs

Unless RecoBuddy gives written permission, users must not make or request cash payment for jobs arranged through RecoBuddy.

Cash arrangements make it harder for RecoBuddy to support customers, drivers and businesses if something goes wrong.

If RecoBuddy believes a user is using the platform to source jobs and then complete them for cash outside the app, RecoBuddy may restrict, suspend or remove the account.

28. Taxes and VAT

Drivers and providers are responsible for their own tax affairs.

This includes responsibility for:

  • Income tax

  • Corporation tax

  • VAT, where applicable

  • National Insurance

  • Business expenses

  • Accounting records

  • Any other tax obligations

RecoBuddy does not provide tax advice.

If a driver, provider or business is VAT registered, they are responsible for applying VAT correctly where required.

Users should seek professional tax advice if they are unsure about their obligations.

29. Invoices, Receipts and Payout Records

RecoBuddy may provide receipts, payment confirmations, invoices, payout summaries or transaction records through the app, website or email.

Customers may receive payment confirmation after booking.

Business users may receive invoices, receipts or billing summaries depending on their account setup.

Drivers and providers may receive payout summaries showing completed jobs, deductions and payout amounts.

Users are responsible for keeping their own records where required.

30. Promotions, Discounts and Credits

RecoBuddy may offer discounts, referral credits, promotional codes or account credits.

Promotions may be subject to:

  • Expiry dates

  • Usage limits

  • Eligibility rules

  • Account restrictions

  • Job type restrictions

  • Separate promotional terms

RecoBuddy may withdraw, refuse or cancel a promotion if it is misused, applied incorrectly, expired or used in breach of these terms.

Discounts may reduce the amount payable by the customer but do not automatically increase the driver payout unless RecoBuddy confirms otherwise.

31. Driver Responsibility for Costs

Drivers and providers are responsible for their own operating costs, including:

  • Fuel

  • Insurance

  • Vehicle maintenance

  • Equipment

  • Licences

  • Permits

  • Staff

  • Taxes

  • Road charges

  • Parking costs

  • Fines

  • Recovery equipment

  • Any other business costs

Unless agreed otherwise, drivers and providers should include expected costs in their quote before submitting it.

32. Commission and Payment Changes

RecoBuddy may change its driver commission, provider commission, payout structure or payment terms from time to time.

Where changes are material, RecoBuddy will aim to provide reasonable notice.

Updated commission or payment terms may apply to future jobs, future quotes or future bookings after the change takes effect.

Fees already agreed for confirmed bookings will not usually be changed unless required by law, payment provider rules, fraud prevention requirements or agreement between the parties.

33. Account Suspension and Payments

RecoBuddy may suspend or restrict an account where a user breaches these terms, fails verification, misuses the platform, attempts off-platform arrangements, receives repeated complaints or creates payment risk.

If an account is suspended, RecoBuddy may:

  • Pause payouts

  • Cancel active jobs

  • Restrict quoting

  • Restrict bookings

  • Review payment history

  • Investigate disputes

  • Deduct amounts owed

  • Close the account where appropriate

Suspension does not remove a user’s obligation to pay any amount owed to RecoBuddy, customers, drivers, providers or other users.

34. Errors and Corrections

If RecoBuddy makes a pricing, payout, commission or payment error, RecoBuddy may correct the error.

This may include:

  • Reversing an incorrect payout

  • Deducting an overpayment

  • Paying an underpayment

  • Correcting a commission amount

  • Correcting a payment record

  • Amending an invoice or receipt

  • Contacting the affected user

Users should notify RecoBuddy if they believe a payment, fee, commission or payout is incorrect.

35. Records and Evidence

RecoBuddy may rely on platform records when reviewing payments, payouts, disputes, cancellations and refunds.

These records may include:

  • Job details

  • Quote details

  • Payment records

  • Payout records

  • Messages

  • Customer updates

  • Driver updates

  • Location data, where available

  • Uploaded documents

  • Photos

  • Support tickets

  • Admin notes

  • Completion records

Users agree that RecoBuddy may review this information where reasonably necessary to resolve payment or platform issues.

36. Contact About Payments

For payment, payout, refund, commission or billing queries, users should contact RecoBuddy support through the app or website.

When contacting support, users should provide:

  • Job ID

  • Account details

  • Payment amount

  • Date of payment

  • Description of the issue

  • Any supporting evidence

RecoBuddy will aim to review payment issues as quickly as reasonably possible.

37. Changes to These Terms

RecoBuddy may update these Commissions & Payments Terms from time to time.

Where the change is material, RecoBuddy will aim to give reasonable notice through the app, website, email or another appropriate method.

Continued use of RecoBuddy after the updated terms take effect means you accept the updated terms.

38. Summary

RecoBuddy aims to keep payments simple, clear and fair.

Customers only pay the quote they choose to accept.

RecoBuddy does not charge customers or standard users a platform fee, booking fee, service fee or commission.

Drivers and providers set their own quotes and may pay RecoBuddy commission from their payout.

All bookings and payments should stay inside RecoBuddy so the platform can provide records, support and protection where possible.
